The Sparton model 5040 is a midget radio with
a marbled tenite "Split grill" and matching knobs.
It was made by Sparton of Canada, Ltd., London, Ontario, 1939.
(schematics)
This is a version that I believe was a Sparton european export model made in the US.
It covers 2 frequency ranges, Medium Wave and Long Wave with a band switch on the back.
It was found in Europe and the dial reads "Jackson, Michigan" under the Sparton name,
and "Made in USA" at the bottom. It is labeled with European cities.
There are no other markings on the radio and the model number is unknown.
