The Silvertone model 4760 is a very rare black bakelite radio with an unusual left side dial.
It was designed by John R. Morgan for Silvertone in 1937.
The stunning deco cabinet continues around as one piece to the
back,
with the chassis accessable from the bottom.
Unstable plastics were used for the dial and knobs causing cracks from shrinkage.
This example has replacement knobs and dial pointer. The dial is original.
The chassis is heavy and the cabinet fragile likely contributing to their scarcity.
It is not listed in the Riders radio manuals, but fortunately
the parts list and
schematics
are included on a label inside the radio.
It is a 5 tube (6A8 6K7 6B6 25L6 6X5), 2 band (AM and Shortwave) radio.
A white plaskon version was also made, the
model 4770.
The additional fragile nature of plaskon has made this version even more scarce.

This is another patent by John R. Morgan for a Silvertone model 4762.
I have never seen or heard of this radio actually existing. It may have never made it to market.
This is a photo taken from Electronics magazine, November 1937 showing the Silvertone 4760 cabinet.
